Guranje S Litice

Guranje S Litice is a small Croatian promotor of underground rock music. From 2004 to 2010 GSL booked around 30 concerts in club Kocka (Split, Croatia, Europe) as a part of cultural and youth associations "PKM" and "KUU Uzgon" from Split/Croatia. Since 2008 the main GSL focus is on releases, on all formats - vinyl, cd, cdr, tape and digital. GSL is a part of "KUU Rizom", a cultural association, since September 2010. Since all formats of recorded sound already became obsolete, genres themselves or years of recorded albums also don't count anymore. Lights are infinite!

Released on February 11th 2012 to support Croatian protests against multinational ACTA agreement.

Publishing and archiving project Guranje S Litice from Split, Croatia on February 11th 2012, as a symbolic act of support to the anti ACTA demonstrations across Croatia, released an integral 34 minute version of the live album performed by noise rock band Why Stakla from Osijek, Croatia. The band which was active from 1992 to 1998 recorded this live material on a concert that was held on April 19th 1996 in Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia.
At the mixing desk at the time was probably the best producer of alternative music on the realm of former Yugoslavia - Bojan Babič Babo, who is also responsible for the remastering of this archive recording, recorded on only two channels.
At the beginning of 2012 the project came to an end, along with the graphics of Igor Hofbauer and cover design by Slobodan Alavanja and Igor Mihovilović, it was released in a digital format. On the explicit demand of former band members that the album should be free and that with the audio material that comes in the format that users want (flac, mp3, ogg, etc) provides the complete artwork in a printable format, no physical release of the album is planned.
Why Stakla are considered to be one of the best alter rock bands from the early 90’s in Croatia and their two recorded albums with the key releases of independent publishing at the time (Kekere Aquarium, Lunatic, Helidon…), and this album brings songs from both albums with one cover song that was not included in their previous discography.

GSL#14 TO / THE KILLING SPREE - SPLIT [TAPE]

A1  The Killing Spree - No Comply 3:13

A2  The Killing Spree - And Then… 4:00

A3  The Killing Spree - There Will Be No Traces 3:55

A4  The Killing Spree - Who The Fuck Is Bunsen Burner 3:56

B1  TO - Vii 2:42

B2  TO - Viii 2:45

B3  TO - Ix 2:32

B4  TO - X 3:08

TO is what you’d call an “obscure” three-piece band from Split, Croatia. While their first release (split with Anita) saw a rather unexpected usage of clarinet and brought sounds and overall felling reminiscent of post-Pentastar Earth, their second release (3-way split with Ovo and Children Egoism) expanded further on those sounds by introducing a somewhat anxious atmosphere and indicated a firmer approach to playing techniques. Their newest material (split with The Killing Spree) transformed into a nervous, noisy post-hardcore with some serious Breach-alike math rock sentiments. Influenced by, and definitely recommended for the fans of: Breach, Lvmen, Neurosis, Earth, Anita, Nikad.
The little body of work by The Killing Spree from Belfast can still amaze the listener with its brisk, edgy post-hardcore that influenced a lot of latter local noise/math-rock bands. Continuing where The Jesus Lizard and Slint left off, in 2004 they released a three-song 7”/CD which, together with the four tracks from this split with TO, were supposed to be compiled as their first mini-album. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter they disbanded to pursue new musical ventures, and the songs remained unreleased but well-kept for some better times. The sounds that band offers here take us back to when post-punk-rock sounded way better than its recent mongrels. Highly recommended for the fans of Slint, The Jesus Lizard, Tar, Naked Raygun.

Limited to 50 copies. Packed inside photo-paper cases/covers and hand-woven bags. The Killing Spree recorded Feb-Mar 2004. TO recorded in 2010, mastered in Aug 2010. Dedicated to the memory of Petar Stipetić Peki (1980-2011).

GSL#8 SexA - SexA U Zivo, MKC Koper 23.I.86. [vinyl+cd]

Although
recognized as the forerunners of the active ex-Yu underground scene of the 80’s,
Sexa fell victim to lack of support in their surroundings. Local record labels and general public were not prepared for their abrasive sound and raw style, and for Sexa staying underground was both aesthetic choice and the only available option. The most important document from the band’s most fertile period is this collection of tracks, recorded live in 1986.
Initially available as the obscure limited-edition tape, „Sexa U živo“ soon became rare and collector’s item, well hidden underground treasure. This outstanding work and powerful statement of this unique band has finally got the appropriate treatment. Eerie, hostile and bleak, this collection of melancholy and anger is one more proof that geographic and cultural isolation has nothing to do with creativity and making great art. Along with Šarlo akrobata, Trobeceve krušne peći and other like-minded peers, Sexamade some of the most exciting music in the region. With its intense post-punk frenzy, raw guitars, expressive vocals, dark atmosphere and deranged lyrics, „Sexa U živo“ was a precursor to many things to come in the regional music scene and it aged amazingly well. Think Pere Ubu, early Swans, Sonic Youth and great forgotten bands like Minimal Man and Factrix from the other side of the planet. Disturbing, rewarding and essential listening. Don’t miss it this time.

GSL#9 Desinence Mortification / Giht Shasie [cd]

Finally, after a few years of preparation, here we have a split release by two Croatian grindcore bands exploring different angles of the genre in full 79 minutes blast.
Desinence Mortification from Pula are probably the longest-lasting Croatian grindcore band after the legendary Patareni. On their side of this CD they offer around 30 minutes of old-school grindcore, including 6 tracks from their album from 2009, 7 tracks taken off demo from 2001, and 10 tracks recorded live in 1995. Highly recommended for fans of early Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Fear Of God and Patareni. Intense and brain-melting!
Giht Shasie from Split have been making experimental dadaistic digital grindcore from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2008 to present. Due to frequent break-ups, the band is sometimes reffered to as Pok. (Deceased) Giht Shasie. After their 2004 material, a few friends of band remixed their tracks and also did a few collaborations. Those friends are Electrocutionerdz (Canada), Discopath, DJ Implant, Gruuthaagy, Mad Shepard and Rural & 4 (all from Croatia). After a few mockery albums recorded in 2008, the band reappeared to play another gig of grindcore material. In April 2009, live tracks including old material, were recorded along with a few new songs. In 2010, new studio tracks were finished together with a remix by obscure Croatian electro-industrial pioneers Zidar Betonsky. All in all, their side of CD contains over 40 minutes of raw digital grind, evocating the most creative moments of works by Agoraphobic Nosebleed, The Locust, Phantomsmasher or Ministry. Sick.
